Ignition Lock: Service and Repair

Removal and installation of ignition lock must be done with key removed.
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Remove steering wheel, column covers and turn signal switch, refer to "Steering Wheel, Replace" and "Turn Signal Switch, Replace" procedures.
3.
Cut upper {1/4} inch from key cylinder retainer pin boss, using a hacksaw blade.
4.
Remove roll pin from housing, using a suitable punch, then remove key cylinder.
5.
Install new cylinder, ensuring it engages the lug or ignition switch driver.
6.
Install roll pin and check for proper operation of lock.
