REMOVAL
1. Raise and support vehicle, then position suitable floor jack under axle assembly and raise axle assembly to relieve weight on rear springs.
2. Disconnect rear brake proportioning valve spring, then the lower ends of rear shock absorbers at axle brackets.
3. Remove U-bolt attaching nuts, then the U-bolt and spring plate.
4. Lower rear axle assembly, allowing rear spring to hang free.
5. Remove front pivot bolt from front spring hanger.
6. Remove rear spring shackle attaching nuts, then the shackles from the spring.
7. Remove springs from vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. Assemble shackle and bushings in rear of spring and rear spring hanger, then install shackle bolt. Do not tighten nut at this point.
2. Raise front of spring, then install pivot bolt and attaching nut. Do not tighten nut at this point.
3. Raise axle assembly into correct position with axle centered under spring center bolt.
4. Install spring plate, U-bolts and attaching nuts. Torque attaching nuts to 60 ft. lbs.
5. Install shock absorbers and attaching nuts. Do not tighten nuts at this point.
6. Lower vehicle to floor, allowing full weight of vehicle on wheels, then torque the following fasteners: front pivot bolt, 95 ft. lbs.; shackle nuts, 35
