SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some vehicles may exhibit a "sloshing" or "gurgling" noise coming from the lift gate spoiler when the lift gate is opened or closed. This condition may
be caused by water trapped inside the spoiler during the manufacturing process.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves removing the lift gate spoiler and drilling two drain holes.
1.
Remove the lift gate spoiler by removing six screws and six nuts from the underside of the lift gate. Carefully remove the spoiler and place it
upside down on a protected work surface.
2.
Locate and mark both locations to be drilled on the bottom side of the spoiler as indicated in the illustration. Drill one 1/4" hole on each end of the
spoiler through the spacer and into the spoiler. Do not exceed a depth of 1-3/4".
3.
Using a utility knife or side cutters, remove a portion of the spacer around each hole to provide a path for water to drain out. See illustration.
