Wheel Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
Rear

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
2. Remove sensor grommet from vehicle underbody, then pull harness through hole and disconnect sensor connector from harness.
3. Remove sensor grommets from batwing bracket, located just ahead of trailing arm bushing, then remove sensor and brake tube assembly clip from

inside portion of trailing arm.

4. Remove sensor wire fastener from rear brake hose bracket, then remove retainer nut from outboard sensor assembly.
5. Remove sensor head screw, then carefully separate sensor head from adapter assembly. If corrosion impedes removal, do not use pliers to free

sensor. Use a hammer and suitable punch to tap gently upon sensor mount until sensor is free.

6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Coat speed sensor with high temperature grease prior to installation.
b. Torque sensor screw to 60 inch lbs.
