Seat Belt Retractor: Service and Repair

Shoulder Belt Retractor with Floor Console

1. Disconnect shoulder belt buckle from carrier, then remove bolt covers, lock bar bolts and seat belt bolts.
2. Remove console and cup holder side plugs to gain access to screws, then remove screws and lift console out of position.
3. Disconnect electrical connector, then remove console and retractor assembly from vehicle.
4. If necessary, separate retractor from console by releasing bezel from console opening. Do not attempt to separate bezel from retractor assembly.
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Torque rear console to front console screws to 17 inch lbs. and console to body screws to 16 ft. lbs.
b. Torque lock bar and seat belt bolts to 29 ft. lbs.
