Fuel Injector: Description and Operation
Fuel Injector
The fuel injector is a solenoid operated valve which is energized and controlled by the Single Board Engine Controller (SBEC). When the SBEC
grounds an injector solenoid, which has a constant voltage supply, a spring loaded ball is lifted off its seat and fuel is sprayed through a spray orifice in
an even, conical pattern above the intake port. The SBEC determines the length of injector "on time" necessary to maintain the ideal air/fuel mixture
based on a programmed response to various sensor inputs. This time frame is called "injector pulse width".
