Throttle Body: Service and Repair
Air Cleaner And Throttle Body Assemblies
Removal
1.
Disconnect negative battery terminal, and remove air cleaner.
2.
Remove the intercooler to throttle body hose and its clamp.
3.
Disconnect the following electrical connectors:
^ Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
^ Idle Air Control (IAC) motor
4.
Remove the throttle return spring.
5.
Remove throttle cable.
6.
Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the throttle body.
7.
If the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission and/or speed control, remove the kick-down and speed control cables.
8.
Remove throttle body mounting nuts and lift throttle body off of intake plenum.
9.
Discard old intake gasket.
Installation
1.
Clean the throttle body mounting surface on the intake plenum.
2.
Using a new gasket, install the throttle body onto the intake manifold, and torque the mounting bolts to 225 lb-in (25 Nm).
3.
Connect the throttle body vacuum hoses.
4.
Connect the following electrical connectors:
^ Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
^ Idle Air Control (IAC) motor
5.
Connect the throttle return spring.
6.
Attach throttle cable.
7.
If the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission and/or speed control, install the kick-down and speed control cables.
8.
Install the intercooler to throttle body hose, and torque the clamp to 30 lb-in (3.8 Nm).
9.
Connect the negative battery cable.
10.
Perform fuel system pressure test to check for leaks.
11.
Install the air cleaner assembly.
