2003 (VA) Dodge Sprinter (2500 and 3500 series)
NOTE:
This recall applies only to the above vehicles equipped with a 2.7L diesel engine built through September 29, 2003 (MDH 092901).
IMPORTANT:
Some of the involved vehicles may be in dealer used vehicle
inventory. Dealers should complete this recall service on these vehicles before retail delivery. Dealers should also perform this recall on vehicles in for
service. Involved vehicles can be determined by using the VIP inquiry process.
Subject
The engine intake manifold on about 3,500 of the above vehicles may develop corrosion in the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) passage. This could
lead to exhaust gas leakage onto the dash panel silencer pad. Prolonged exposure of hot exhaust gases on the dash panel silencer pad could result in an
underhood fire.
Repair
The engine intake manifold must be replaced. The dash panel silencer pad must be inspected and replaced if required.
