Ball Joint: Service and Repair
Front Lower Ball Joint - Removal
REMOVAL
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly.
3. Remove the disc brake caliper adaptor bolts (3). Then remove the caliper assembly (4).
NOTE: Mark the strut on the knuckle with a scribe for installation.
4. Remove the front strut bolts (2) from the knuckle See: Suspension Strut / Shock Absorber/Service and Repair/Front Strut / Shock/Removal.
5. Remove the steering knuckle See: Front Steering Knuckle/Service and Repair/Front Steering Knuckle - Removal.
6. Remove the outer tie rod end (5) from the knuckle (3).
7. Separate the lower ball joint (2) from the knuckle (3) using puller # (4).
