Description
DESCRIPTION
A recirculation door actuator is used when equipped with the optional rear A/C system. The rear recirculation door actuator is a reversible, 12-volt direct
current (DC), servo motor that is mechanically connected to the rear recirculation-air door located in the rear evaporator housing. The rear recirculation
door actuator is contained within a black molded plastic housing (1) with an integral wire connector receptacle (4) and three mounting tabs (2) that allow
the actuator to be secured to the driver side of the rear evaporator housing, on top of the vehicle. The rear recirculation door actuator has an output shaft
(3) with a spline that connect it to the rear recirculation-air door. The rear recirculation door actuator is electronically calibrated by the A/C-heater
control.
The recirculation door actuator can be accessed for service from on top of the vehicle
Operation
OPERATION
The rear recirculation door actuator is connected to the rear A/C control through the vehicle electrical system by a dedicated wire lead and connector of
the rear A/C wire harness. The rear recirculation door actuator can move the rear recirculation-air door in two directions. When the rear A/C control
pulls the voltage on one side of the motor connection high and the other connection low, the recirculation-air door will move in one direction. When the
rear A/C control reverses the polarity of the voltage to the motor, the recirculation-air door moves in the opposite direction.
When the rear A/C control makes the voltage to both connections high or both connections low, the recirculation-air door stops and will not move. The
rear A/C control uses a pulse-count positioning system to monitor the operation and relative position of the rear recirculation door actuator and the rear
recirculation-air door. The rear A/C control learns the recirculation-air door stop positions during the calibration procedure and will store a diagnostic
trouble code (DTC) for any problems it detects in the rear recirculation door actuator circuits.
The rear recirculation door actuator is diagnosed using a scan tool.
The rear recirculation door actuator cannot be adjusted or repaired and must be replaced if inoperative or damaged.
