Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Install No. 1 bearing cap on shafts so that notch on end of shaft faces in direction shown in Fig. 56. Ensure oil grooves faces downward as
shown and oil port is located on rocker shaft side.
b. Install remaining bearing caps on shaft with arrow mark on each bearing cap points in same direction as No. 1 bearing cap.
c. Immerse lash adjuster in clean diesel fuel.
d. Using a small wire, move plunger up and down several times while pushing down lightly on check ball in order to bleed out air.
e. Install lash adjuster into rocker arms, using care not to spill out diesel fuel, then retain lash adjuster with lash adjuster retainer tool No.
MD998443, or equivalent, Fig. 57.
f.
Apply a small amount of sealant to areas shown, Fig. 58.
g. Install rocker arm shaft assembly bearing cap arrow marks in same direction as arrow mark on cylinder head.
h. Tighten bearing cap bolts to specification, then remove lash adjuster tool.
i.
Install circular packing using seal installer tool No. MD998306, or equivalent.
j.
Install camshaft oil seal and sprocket.
