Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder: Service and Repair

Ignition Lock & Ignition Switch

1.

Disable airbag, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair.

2.

Remove steering wheel, refer to STEERING WHEEL. 

3.

Remove instrument panel lower knee protector attaching screws.

4.

Remove ignition lock cylinder as shown, noting the following:
a. Remove steering column cover upper to lower attaching screws, then carefully unsnap upper steering column cover from lower.
b. To remove steering lock cylinder insert ignition key and place in "ACC" position.
c. Using suitable Phillips head screwdriver, press lockpin inward to release lock cylinder.

Steering Wheel Clock Spring Alignment

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Align "Neutral" mark of clock spring with mating marks. 

WARNING:  If clock spring is not properly aligned, steering wheel may not be completely rotational, or flat cable within clock spring
may be severed obstructing normal SRS operation which may cause personal injury.

b. Enable airbag, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ARMING/DISARMING.
