Chrysler Sebring Coupe and Dodge Stratus Coupe (Two Door)

NOTE:

This recall applies only to the above vehicles built from August 9, 2000 through August 28, 2000 (MDH 0809XX through 0828XX).

IMPORTANT:

Some of the involved vehicles may be in dealer new vehicle inventory. Federal law requires you to stop sale and complete this recall service on these
vehicles before retail delivery. Dealers should also consider this requirement to apply to used vehicle inventory and should perform this recall on
vehicles in for service. Involved vehicles can be determined by using the DIAL VIP System.

Subject

The fuel return hose on about 3,400 of the above vehicles may have been improperly manufactured. Over time, the hose may deteriorate and leak fuel.
Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in an underbody fire.

Repair

The fuel return hose date code must be inspected on all involved vehicles. Hoses that have the suspect date code must be replaced.

Alternate Transportation

If inspection determines that fuel return hose replacement is required and the vehicle must be held overnight, dealers should attempt to minimize
customer inconvenience by placing the owner in a loaner vehicle.

Due to the small number of involved vehicles expected to require return hose replacement, no parts will be distributed initially. Return hoses should be
ordered only after inspection determines that replacement is required. Very few vehicles are expected to require return hose replacement.

Completion Reporting and Reimbursement

Claims for vehicles that have been serviced must be submitted on the DIAL System. Claims submitted will be used by DaimlerChrysler to record recall
service completions and provide dealer payments.
