Radiator Fan Relay: Description and Operation
Relay Location
LOCATION
Relay is located under heater blower motor housing
FUNCTION
Relay supplies battery voltage to radiator fan.
OPERATION
The engine controller applies or removes the ground from the circuit to energize or de-energize the relay depending upon the cooling demands of the
engine.
When the coolant temperature reaches 207° F. (97° C), the engine controller applies the ground (energizes) to the radiator fan relay, enabling the radiator
cooling fan to operate. When the engine temperature drops below 201° F (94° C), the engine controller removes the ground (de-energizes) from the
radiator fan relay, disabling the cooling fan.
