Rear
CAUTION: If a wheel mounting stud needs to be replaced in the hub and bearing assembly the studs CAN NOT be hammered out of the hub flange. If
a stud is removed by hammering it out of the bearing flange, damage to the hub and bearing assembly will occur leading to premature bearing failure.
NOTES:
-
The following procedure and special tools shown MUST be used when replacing wheel attaching studs.
-
The hub/bearing does not require removal from the knuckle to replace the wheel mounting studs in the hub/bearing flange.
REMOVE
1. Raise vehicle on jackstands or centered on a frame contact type hoist.
2. Remove wheel and tire.
3. Using a hammer and pin punch of the appropriate size, tap brake pad retaining pin out of caliper. Remove retaining pin using pin punch until
retaining pin snap ring is past outboard side of brake caliper assembly.
WARNING: Hold anti-rattle spring in place while removing brake pad retaining pin from caliper. If anti-rattle spring is not held in
place during removal of brake pad retaining pin anti-rattle spring may fly off caliper causing possible injury.
4. Pull the brake pad retaining pin out of the caliper. Then remove the anti-rattle spring from the caliper. Check condition of sleeves and retaining
pins, replace if retaining pins are corroded, or sleeves are worn or damaged.
