OPERATION

AIRBAG WARNING

The ElectroMechanical Instrument Cluster (EMIC) monitors airbag systems via the Programmable Communication Interface (PCI) data bus from the
Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC). The ORC will transmit a message once per second, over the PCI data bus, as to whether the warning indicator
should be ON or OFF. The warning indicator indicates that a part of the airbag system is inoperative and needs to be serviced as soon as possible. If the
instrument cluster does not receive a message from the ORC for 3 consecutive seconds, the instrument cluster will illuminate the warning indicator. The
ORC transmits a PCI data bus message requesting the instrument cluster to perform a bulb check each time the ignition is turned to the ON position.

ANTI-LOCK BRAKE WARNING

The ElectroMechanical Instrument Cluster (EMIC) monitors the ABS message and chimes a single chime warning whenever the ABS module requests
the ABS light on. If the EMIC does not receive a message from the ABS module for more than 5 seconds, the EMIC will light the ABS light and request
a single chime warning.

CRITICAL COOLANT TEMPERATURE WARNING

The EMIC monitors the engine coolant temperature message from the PCM and requests a single chime when the temperature is high (245 F) and a
continuous chime when the temperature is critical (equal to or above 260 F).

CRITICAL OIL TEMPERATURE WARNING

The EMIC monitors the engine oil temperature message from the PCM and requests a single chime when the temperature is high (290 F) and a
continuous chime when the temperature is critical (equal to or above 300 F).

DECK LID AJAR REMINDER

The BCM monitors the deck lid ajar switch. A chime will sound once when the deck lid is opened, the ignition is in RUN position and vehicle speed is
present.

DOME LAMPS ON REMINDER

The BCM monitors the dome/dimmer switch. The Dome ON audible warning will alert the driver that the interior lamps have been left ON. If the
ignition switch is left OFF, the drivers door open, and the dimmer switch is in the DOME position, the chime will sound until the dimmer switch is
turned out of DOME, the door is closed or the interior lighting battery protection time out expires (15 minutes).

DOOR AJAR WARNING

The BCM monitors the door ajar switches. A chime will sound once when the door is opened, the ignition is in RUN position and vehicle speed is
present.

ENHANCED SEAT BELT REMINDER

The enhanced seat belt reminder feature will prompt the occupants to buckle their seat belt by periodically flashing the seat belt indicator and sounding
an audible chime for a period of time.

To avoid nuisance warning, the enhanced seat belt warning feature has been designed to look for specific vehicle conditions before triggering the
warning. The conditions are:

Ignition in RUN for greater than sixty seconds.

Seat Belt unbuckled.

-

Vehicle transmission not in reverse and vehicle moving.

Once triggered, the enhanced warning feature will continue until the occupant buckles his/her seat belt or the feature times out after ninety seconds. This
feature can be disabled using a Scan Tool. It is also customer programmable and may be enabled/disabled by the customer.

In the event that the "enhanced seat belt warning" feature is active and an additional secondary feature that also uses the chime becomes active. The
chime priority strategy shall be as follows: If the secondary feature causes a continuous chime then that feature shall have priority and the chime shall
remain continuously active during the "enhanced seat belt warning" period or until the continuous chime feature is cancelled or times out. The "enhanced
seat belt warning" control of the lamp shall continue for 12 cycles regardless of the feature controlling the chime. Should the secondary feature causing
the continuous chime be cancelled or time out, prior to the end of "enhanced seat belt warning" period, the remaining portion of the "enhanced seat belt
