Door Lock Switch: Testing and Inspection
Door Lock Switch Electrical Connectors
To test the right side door lock switch, disconnect the wires from the back of the switch. Connect a test light between the black wire and the red wire. If
the test light comes on bright, the power and ground sources for the right switch are sufficient. If the light does not come on or is dim, then check the
circuit breaker, left door switch, and the wiring to the right door switch. Connect jumper wires as shown to the right switch harness. The jumper wires
will take the place of the switch in the inactive position. Operate the power door locks using the left door switch. If the locks operate properly, then the
right door switch is defective. If the door locks do not operate properly, then disconnect the left door switch. Test for power and ground between the red
and black terminals. If power and ground are sufficient, connect the OR to RD and the PK to BK wires with jumper wires. This should lock the doors.
Connecting the PK to RD and the OR to BK wires should unlock the doors. If the locks operate properly, then the left switch is defective.
