SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some 4WD vehicles may experience steering wheel off center during straight ahead driving, due to a shift of the steering gear bracket under high loading
conditions.
DIAGNOSIS:
Drive the vehicle in a straight line and observe the position of the steering wheel. Stop the vehicle on dry pavement, turn the steering wheel from stop to
stop, then drive in a straight line again, and observe the steering wheel. If it has changed position, proceed with this repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This repair involves installing a serrated shoulder bolt that acts as a dowel pin to lock the steering gear bracket to the frame.
1.
Remove left front wheel.
2.
Remove the lower steering gear mounting bracket bolt.
3.
Size the hole through the bracket and frame using a 19/32 inch diameter drill (Figure 1).
