Ball Joint: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect stabilizer bar from both lower control arms. The bracket bolts and nuts also secure the lower ball joints to the arms. Replace a nut on

one of the two attaching bolts after removing the bracket(s).

2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove wheel(s).
4. Remove lower ball joint key bolt and nut.
5. Loosen but do not remove bolts attaching lower control arm to the engine cradle.
6. Remove and retain plastic washer located on lower ball joint.
7. Remove ball joint attaching bolts, then the ball joint.
8. Reverse procedure to install.
