Backing Plate: Service and Repair
REMOVE
1.
Raise vehicle on jackstands or a frame contact type hoist.
2.
Remove rear tire and wheel assembly from the vehicle.
Dust Cap Removal
3.
Remove rear hub and bearing assembly dust cap.
Rear Hub And Bearing Retaining Nut Removal
4.
Remove the rear hub and bearing assembly cotter pin, nut retainer, wave washer, hub and bearing retaining nut and washer from the rear spindle.
Then remove rear hub and bearing assembly from spindle.
5.
Remove the rear brake shoes from the brake support plate. Refer to Drum Brake System Brake Shoe Service and Repair Removal for the proper
brake shoe removal procedure.
