This article is being republished in its entirety to clarify the dealer condition coding to be used when describing the repair for warranty payment.
ISSUE:
A noise or vibration may be caused by poor retaining ring retention in the four wheel drive transfer case planetary gear.

ACTION:
Replace the round cross section snap ring with the new design square section snap ring. This snap ring will provide more consistent seating
and retention of the planetary gear set. Refer to the Light Truck Shop Manual, Section 07-07 for service details.
