Power Steering Pump: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation
1.
Drain fluid from pump reservoir, then disconnect pressure and return lines at pump.
2.
If applicable, disconnect pressure switch electrical connector, then remove switch from line fitting.
3.
Loosen drive belt adjusting bolt at idler pulley, then remove drive belt from pump pulley.
4.
Remove oil dipstick tube, as required.
5.
Remove power steering pump bracket support brace, if equipped.
6.
Using steering pump pulley remover T69L-10300-B or equivalent, hold pump and rotate nut counterclockwise to remove pulley. Do not apply in
and out pressure on pump shaft as internal thrust area damage may result.
7.
Remove pump to support bracket retaining bolts, then the pump assembly.
8.
Reverse procedure to install. Fill pump reservoir, start engine, then turn steering wheel lock-to-lock to remove air from system.
