1.
Remove air cleaner and PCV valve.
2.
On 1980 models, disconnect choke cable from carburetor.
3.
On all models, disconnect accelerator and throttle cables from carburetor and remove retracting spring.
4.
On 1985-87 models, remove fuel line between fuel filter and fuel pump.
5.
On all models, remove coil bracket attaching bolt or ``E'' core assembly attaching nuts and place coil out of way.
6.
Remove rocker arm cover.
7.
Disconnect ignition wires from spark plugs and the secondary high tension wire from coil.
8.
Remove distributor cap and ignition wires as an assembly.
9.
Remove pushrod cover.
10.
Loosen rocker arm stud nuts or bolts until rocker arms can be disengaged from pushrods.
11.
Remove pushrods and valve lifters in order so they can be installed in their original positions. Use a suitable magnetic rod to remove lifters, Fig.
28.
12.
Reverse procedure to install.
