LIGHT TRUCK 1983-85 RANGER, F SERIES: 1984-85 BRONCO II
TSB Article 85-23-17 inadvertently omitted the time to replace the catalytic converter flange gasket(s). The article is being reissued to show the time and
other warranty information.
When the exhaust system is repaired, the catalytic converter flange gasket(s) should be replaced with new part number E6TZ-5C250-A gasket.
The new gasket should be used in place of E0TZ- 5B266-A (asbestos) and E5TZ-5C250-E (non-asbestos), since the new gasket has increased resistance
to leakage.
To assure exhaust gas sealing, it is important that exhaust system components and catalytic converter flange connection(s) are properly aligned. Flanges
should be scraped clean and checked for flatness; flanges out of flat by more than .045" should be replaced or filed flat. Torque fasteners to specification
per the 1985 Truck Shop Manual, Volume B, Section 26-01.
