Vehicles without air conditioning
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the engine undershield.
Vehicles with air conditioning
  1. Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to Section  303-05 Accessory Drive.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Support the air conditioning (A/C) compressor before removing the retaining bolts and secure it to one side to prevent load being placed on the refrigerant lines.
    Detach the A/C compressor from the retaining adapter and the cylinder block and secure it to one side.

  1. Remove the A/C compressor retaining adapter.

6. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s).

7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Fill the engine with engine oil.
    For additional information, refer to Specification in this section.

Removal Details

Item 1 : Oil drain plug

  1. Drain the engine.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not install the new oil drain plug seal at this stage.
    Install the oil drain plug.

Item 9 : Oil pan

  1. Using a suitable spatula, remove the oil pan.
    • Slide the spatula around the profile of the oil pan.

Installation Details

Item 9 : Oil pan

  1. Clean the mating faces of the oil pan and the cylinder block with suitable metal surface cleaner.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Install the oil pan within four minutes of applying the sealer.
    Apply a 3 mm bead of sealant to the mating face of the oil pan.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not fully tighten the oil pan retaining bolts at this stage.
    Install the oil pan.

  1. Tighten the oil pan to transaxle retaining bolts.

  1. Tighten the oil pan retaining bolts.
