Remove the engine upper cover. | | | -
Detach the brake fluid reservoir from the bulkhead extension panel. | | | -
Remove the windshield wiper arms. | | | -
Remove the cowl panel grille. - Detach the cowl panel grille retaining clips.
- Detach the cowl panel grille from the windshield glass lower weatherstrip and remove.

Remove the bulkhead extension panel. | 7. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s). 4 - CMP sensor electrical connector 5 - CMP sensor retaining bolt 8. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Removal Details Item 1 : Fuel filter supply and return fuel lines support bracket | | -
Detach the fuel filter supply and return lines support bracket from the engine timing belt upper cover. | Item 2 : Engine wiring harness retaining clip | | -
Detach the engine wiring harness retaining clip from the engine timing belt upper cover. | Item 3 : Engine timing belt upper cover | | -
Remove the engine timing belt upper cover. - Remove the timing belt upper cover retaining bolts.
- Slide the timing belt upper cover upwards to disengage the cover retaining tang.
| Installation Details Item 6 : CMP sensor CAUTION:The CMP sensor tip must rest on the back of one of the three webs of the camshaft pulley. Incorrect installation may result in the CMP sensor being damaged. NOTE:Only turn the engine in the normal direction of rotation. | | -
Turn the engine until the back of one of the three webs of the camshaft pulley is in line with the CMP sensor hole in the engine timing belt back plate. | | | -
Install the CMP sensor until the tip of the sensor touches the back of the camshaft pulley. | |
