Automatic Transmission/Transaxle - Vehicles With: Automatic Transmission (CFT23) - Transmission Fluid Drain and Refill C-MAX 2003.75 (06/2003-)
General Procedures

  1. Raise the vehicle.
    For additional information, refer to: Anheben mit Hebebühne (100-02 Fahrzeug anheben, Description and Operation).

  1. Remove the engine undershield.
    • Turn the retaining tabs counter-clockwise .

  1. Remove the fluid filler plug (transmission shown removed for clarity).

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Beware, risk of scalding when draining transmission fluid. Failure to observe this instruction can lead to injury.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:If an internal fault is suspected, drain the transmission fluid through a paper filter. Small quantities of metal filings or other particles indicate normal wear. In the event of large quantities of metal filings or other particles, the transmission must be checked carefully.
    Remove the fluid drain plug.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Clean the thread of the fluid drain plug.
    Install the fluid drain plug.

  1. Remove the fluid overflow plug using an Allen key.
  1. Fill the transmission with transmission fluid until the fluid escapes from the overflow.

    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

  1. Install the fluid overflow plug using an Allen key.

  1. Install the fuel filler plug (transmission shown removed for clarity).
  1. Lower the vehicle.
  1. Check the transmission fluid level.
