Disassembly and Assembly of Subassemblies

Special Tool(s)

	Adapter for 205-071 (Thrust Pad) 205-071-01
	Installer, Differential Bearing 205-081
	Remover, Bearing (Main Tool) 205-295
	Collet for 205-295 308-197

2. Disassemble the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s).

3. To assemble, reverse the disassembly procedure.

Disassembly Details

Using the special tool, detach the clutch-side differential taper roller bearing from the differential.

Using the special tool, detach the transmission-side differential taper roller bearing from the differential.

Loosen the spur gear.
1. Remove the seven bolts and discard them.
1. Loosen three bolts by four turns each.

Detach the spur gear.
- Detach the spur gear from the differential case by lightly tapping the retaining bolts.
- Remove the three bolts.

Assembly Details

NOTE:The machined seating surface of the spur gear must face upwards.

NOTE:Use old bolts when attaching the spur gear.

Install the spur gear.
- Tighten three old spur gear bolts evenly to the specified torque.

NOTE:Install new spur gear bolts.

NOTE:Discard the three old bolts of the spur gear.

Tighten the spur gear bolts to the specified torque in two stages, working diagonally.
1. Install seven new spur gear bolts.
1. Remove three old spur gear bolts and install three new spur gear bolts.

NOTE:Install a new transmission-side taper roller bearing.

NOTE:Do not oil taper roller bearings.

Using the special tool, press on the transmission-side differential taper roller bearing.

NOTE:Install a new clutch-side taper roller bearing.

NOTE:Do not oil taper roller bearings.

Using the special tool, press on the clutch-side differential taper roller bearing.
