Suspension Strut / Shock Absorber: Service and Repair
Rear

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel.
2. Detach anti-lock brake sensor wiring from strut assembly, then remove sensor.
3. Disconnect rear brake hose from brake tube, then remove hose and retainer from strut assembly.

4. Remove parking brake cable and conduit tie strap from rear tie rod, then disconnect stabilizer bar link and bushing from forward rear suspension

arm.

5. Disconnect rear tie rod and bushing assembly at spindle, then place suitable jack stands beneath forward and rearward suspension arms.
6. Remove strut assembly to spindle pinch bolt, then tap on spindle to separate it from strut.
7. Compress spring using strut spring compressor T81P-5310-A, or equivalent, then remove mounting bolts and strut assembly.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting following:

a. When installing strut assembly, compress spring using strut spring compressor T81P-5310-A, or equivalent.
