20. Use a pair of snap ring pliers to install the direct clutch spring retaining ring.
21. Remove the spring compressor.

22. Install the direct clutch plates.

NOTE:  If replacement of the direct clutch internal spline (friction) plates becomes necessary, replace with high friction material plates as
identified by a dark friction material.

23. Install the direct clutch pressure plate retaining ring.
24. Measure the direct clutch clearance as follows:
