Rocker Arm Assembly: Service and Repair
Camshaft Roller Follower
Removal
1. WARNING: Before servicing a vehicle equipped with a fire suppression system, depower the system by following the procedure in Fire
Suppression System. Failure to follow the instructions may result in serious personal injury.
With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Remove the valve covers.
3. Position the piston of the cylinder being repaired at the bottom of the stroke.
4. Install the special tool between the valve spring coils to prevent valve stem seal damage.
5. Using the special tool, compress the valve springs and remove the camshaft roller followers.
Installation
1. Using the special tool, compress the valve spring and install the camshaft roller followers.
