Brake Rotor/Disc: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
2. Remove rear disc brake caliper assembly. If caliper does not require service, do not disconnect brake hose or remove caliper. Position caliper
aside and support with suitable wire to avoid damaging caliper.
3. Remove rotor push nuts, then the disc brake rotor. If additional force is required, use following procedure:
a. Apply rust penetrant and inhibitor D7AZ-19A501-AA or equivalent to rotor/flange mating surface.
b. Install three-jaw puller D80L-1013-A, or equivalent, then remove rear disc brake rotor. If excessive force is necessary to remove rotor, it
should be inspected for lateral runout prior to installation.
INSTALLATION
1. If installing new rotor, remove protective coating with suitable brake cleaner. If installing original rotor, ensure rotor braking and mounting
surfaces are clean.
2. Install rotor and push nuts.
3. Install caliper.
4. Install wheel and tire assembly.
5. Pump brake pedal to position brake shoes and linings before moving vehicle and road testing.
