EGR Electronic Vacuum Regulator Solenoid: Description and Operation

EGR Vacuum Regulator (EVR) Solenoid

PURPOSE

A solenoid used to by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to regulate the vacuum signal to the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve.

OPERATION

Once the PCM receives the EGR "flow rate" signal from the differential pressure feedback transducer, a duty cycle command is then sent to the
EGR vacuum regulator solenoid to regulate the vacuum signal to the EGR valve and ultimately controlling the amount of exhaust gases allowed to
flow into the intake manifold.

CONSTRUCTION

A solenoid consisting of a coil which magnetically controls the position of a disc to regulate vacuum.
