EGR Valve: Service and Repair
EGR Valve Installation
REMOVAL
1. Remove air cleaner outlet tube.
CAUTION: Use care not to damage Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve to exhaust manifold tube.
2. Disconnect EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube from EGR valve.
3. Disconnect vacuum hose from EGR valve.
4. Remove two EGR valve retaining bolts.
5. Remove EGR valve and EGR valve gasket from vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. Clean Intake Manifold sealing surfaces with a plastic-tipped scraper to remove any residual EGR valve gasket material.
2. Position EGR valve gasket and EGR valve onto vehicle.
3. Install two bolts retaining EGR valve to intake manifold. Tighten bolts to 18-22 Nm (13-16 lb ft), then rotate an additional 85-95 degrees.
4. Connect vacuum hose to EGR valve.
5. Connect EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube to EGR valve. Tighten EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube nuts to 35-45 Nm (26-33 lb ft).
6. Install air cleaner outlet tube.
