Child Seat Tether Attachment: Service and Repair

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE BOLT/ANCHOR BE SECURELY TIGHTENED TO SPECIFICATION. OTHERWISE, THE CHILD
SAFETY SEAT MAY NOT BE PROPERLY SECURED, AND THE CHILD COULD BE INJURED IN CASE OF A SUDDEN STOP OR
COLLISION.
Installation
The child safety belt anchor tether kit can be obtained at no charge from any Ford or Lincoln/Mercury dealer. To install, follow instructions provided
with the child safety belt anchor tether kit.
Tether Attachment Location
Dimension A is the distance from the centerline of the vehicle to the center of the tether attachment holes.
Dimension B is the approximate distance from the center of the radio speaker grille opening to the center of the tether attachment holes.
Rear Window Tray
Three 9 mm diameter (0.35 inch) holes are provided in the rear package tray sheet metal structure for attaching the child safety belt anchor tether.
For easy identification, these holes are marked with the letter T stamped next to the hole.
The right outboard hole is located approximately 152 mm (6 inches) from center of the liftgate door trim panel and approximately 419 mm (16.5
inches) rearward from the right speaker grille opening.
The center hole is located at the approximate center line of the vehicle, 38 mm (1.5 inches) rearward from the center of the package tray and is
approximately 406 mm (16 inches) away from the right speaker grille opening.
The left outboard hole is located approximately 254 mm (10 inches) from center of the package tray panel and approximately 394 mm (15.5 inches)
rearward from the left speaker grille opening.
