Seat Belt Height Adjuster: Service and Repair

Removal 

NOTE:  Seat Belt Bolt Bit T77L-2100-A (No.50 TORX(R)) should be used for Removal and installation of all safety belt assemblies.

1. Dislodge upper flap of front seat shoulder strap guide cover by gently pulling outward on the outer edges of the front seat shoulder strap guide

cover. Once released, lift upper flap away to reveal the front safety belt guide hex flange retaining nut.

Remove front seat shoulder strap guide cover by slipping finger behind front seat shoulder strap guide cover toward center of vehicle to dislodge
from front safety belt guide front safety belt guide. Lift front seat shoulder strap guide cover to remove.

2. Insert Seat Belt Bolt Bit T77L-2100-A (No.50 TORX(R)) and remove the front safety belt guide hex flange retaining nut.
3. Remove center body pillar inside upper finish panel.
4. Remove front seat shoulder strap adjuster bolts and remove front seat shoulder strap adjuster.

Installation 

1. Insert the front seat shoulder strap adjuster in the opening of the upper B-pillar structure. Make sure that front seat shoulder strap adjuster knob on

the front seat strap adjuster is positioned above the front safety belt guide ring attachment stud. (The fool-proofing tab is located at the bottom and
is to be inserted in the hole provided in the B-pillar structure.)

2. Align both retaining bolts in the front seat strap adjuster to the weld nuts in the B-pillar reinforcement.
3. Hand-start the top retaining bolt and tighten until it is snug.
4. Hand-start the bottom retaining bolt and tighten until it is snug.
5. Tighten the top and bottom front seat shoulder strap adjuster bolts to 34-46 Nm (25-33 lb-ft).
6. After installation of the front seat shoulder strap adjuster, install the center body pillar inside upper finish panel.
7. Function the adjuster knob by squeezing the release button and sliding the front seat shoulder strap adjuster up and down.

NOTE:  Knob must be able to travel from top to bottom of slot in the B-pillar upper finish panel.

8. Position the front safety belt guide to the B-pillar. Position and hand-start the front safety belt guide hex flange retaining nut on the front seat

shoulder strap adjuster stud. Tighten to 34-46 Nm (25-33 lb-ft).

9. Check to see that the front safety belt guide rotates freely after installation.

10. Gently push upper flap of front seat shoulder strap guide cover down until it snaps onto the front safety belt guide.
11. Position the front seat shoulder strap adjuster knob in the uppermost position.
12. Check the restraint system for proper operation and perform Functional Test Procedure.
