Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module
(PCM) relearns its fuel trim. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the fuel trim.
2. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring from Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor.
3. Remove CMP sensor retaining screw and remove sensor from engine front cover.
INSTALLATION
1. Make sure CMP sensor mounting surface is clean and that CMP sensor 0-ring is in proper location on camshaft position sensor.
CAUTION: Do not overtighten camshaft position sensor retaining screw.
2. Position CMP sensor and install retaining screw. Tighten to 8-12 Nm (71-106 in lb).
3. Connect engine control sensor wiring to CMP sensor.
4. Connect battery ground cable.
