INSPECTION PROCEDURE - FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER ARM BRACKET WELDS
1.
Check the vehicle build date. If build date falls outside of the subject time period, the vehicle is not affected by this concern. Perform normal
diagnostics and service procedures to resolve any customer complaints.
2.
If the vehicle falls within the suspect period, drive the vehicle slowly over irregular terrain (chuck holes, speed bumps, etc..) Listen for creaking
noise while turning or clunking noise while braking (emanating from the front of the vehicle). If the above noise is detected, this may be an
indication of a weld or bracket concern.
3.
If the condition noted in Step # 2 is noted, bring in vehicle and put up on a frame contact hoist.
4.
Clean and inspect both front suspension lower control arm rear frame brackets (control arm to frame) for missing or incomplete welds.

Visually inspect for incomplete welds, cracks in the weld areas, and welds that are off location. Also inspect for cracks in the brackets. It
may be helpful to use a mirror or carefully feel along the welds with your fingers.
There are three (3) areas of weld to be inspected. See figure.
