Removal and Installation
All vehicles
1. CAUTION: Do not allow the steering wheel to rotate while the steering column intermediate shaft is disconnected, or damage to the
clockspring can occur. If there is evidence that the steering column shaft has rotated, the clockspring must be removed and recentered.
For additional information, refer to Air Bag Systems.
Turn the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position and turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
All except commercial chassis
2. Remove the steering column shaft-to-steering gear pinch bolt and disconnect the steering column shaft from the steering gear.

To install, tighten to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.)
3. Disconnect the steering column shaft dash panel seal from the dash panel.
