Removal
1. Remove the axle shaft.
2. CAUTION: It is not necessary to remove the rear wheel bearing if only installing a new wheel bearing oil seal. To remove only the wheel
bearing oil seal, pry it from the axle tube. Do not damage the seal seating surface. If removing the rear wheel bearing and the oil seal,
proceed to the next step.
Remove the wheel bearing oil seal from the axle tube. Discard the seal.
3. WARNING: Make sure protective eyewear is in place. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
Using the special tools, remove the rear wheel bearing and the wheel bearing oil seal as a unit. Discard the seal and the bearing.
4. CAUTION: The bearing and seal seating surfaces must be free from burrs, nicks and spalling.
Clean and inspect the bore in the axle tube.

Wipe the bore in the axle tube with emery cloth to smooth the surface. Clean the bore with a standard metal-cleaning solvent. Wipe the bore
with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove any foreign material.
Installation
1. If removed, lubricate the new rear wheel bearing with the specified axle lubricant.
2. CAUTION: Install the rear wheel bearing with the identification numbers facing outward.
CAUTION: Do not cock the rear wheel bearing in the axle tube.
Using the special tools, install the rear wheel bearing.
