Armature Open Circuit Test
An open circuit starter motor armature can sometimes be detected by examining the commutator for evidence of burning.
Armature Grounded Circuit Test
73 Digital Multimeter
Alternator, Regulator, Battery And Starter Tester(ARBST)
SPECIAL TOOLS REQUIRED
1. This test will determine if any armature winding insulation has been damaged. Measure for resistance, using the 73 Digital Multimeter, between
the commutator and the core. Infinite resistance indicates a normal condition; otherwise, replace the starter motor armature.
2. Check for continuity between the commutator and the shaft. Replace the starter motor armature if continuity is found.
