Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair
1.
Disconnect battery ground cables, then remove engine cover.
2.
If removing righthand manifold, proceed as follows:
a. Remove fan shroud halves.
b. Remove engine oil dipstick and tube and transmission filler tube and dipstick.
c. Raise and support vehicle.
d. Remove righthand engine mount insulator to frame attaching nuts.
e. Raise right side of engine slightly until fuel filter header touches body sheet metal, then install a wooden block between insulator and frame and
lower engine to rest on block.
f. Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold, then lower vehicle.
g. Bend back tabs on manifold attaching bolts, then remove bolts and the manifold.
3.
If removing lefthand manifold, proceed as follows:
a. Raise and support vehicle.
b. Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold, then lower vehicle.
c. Bend back tabs on manifold attaching bolts, then remove bolts and the manifold.
4.
Reverse procedure to install.
