Expansion Valve: Service and Repair
THERMOSTATIC EXPANSION VALVE
Removal and Installation
1. Remove the auxiliary evaporator core.
2. NOTE: Care must be taken not to damage the temperature sensing bulb or capillary tube.
Detach the temperature sensing bulb from the evaporator outlet tube.

Remove the A/C insulating tape and save for reuse.

Remove the clip and detach the temperature sensing bulb.
3. Remove the thermostatic expansion valve (TXV).

CAUTION: Use a wrench on each side of the fitting to prevent damage to the air conditioning (A/C) fitting.
Disconnect the refrigerant lines.

Remove the TXV.

Discard the O-ring seals.
4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Install new O-ring seals.
