FUEL - BI-FUEL - FUEL LEAK OR FUEL ODOR AT
THE CNG FUEL FILL VALVE AREA

ISSUE
Some Dedicated and Bi-Fuel CNG vehicles may exhibit a condition of fuel leak or fuel odor at the CNG Fuel Fill Valve area. This may be caused by the
CNG Fuel Fill Valve.
ACTION
If it has been determined that a CNG Fuel Fill Valve may be leaking fuel, replace the fuel fill valve.
Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
NOTE
THIS PROCEDURE SHOULD ONLY BE PERFORMED BY A CERTIFIED CNG TECHNICIAN.
NOTE
FOLLOW ALL SAFETY PROCEDURES LISTED IN THE APPROPRIATE WORKSHOP MANUAL.
Removal
1.
Perform the Pressure Relief-Fuel Line Venting Procedure, refer to Section 310-00B.
2.
Remove the fuel filler valve retaining nut.
3.
Remove and discard the hard plastic dust cap.
4.
Remove the fuel filler valve from the mounting flange:
a.
Disconnect the high-pressure fuel line from the fuel filler valve.
b.
Remove the fuel filler valve.
Installation
NOTE
LUBRICATE THE FILL VALVE 0-RING SEAL WITH 5W30 ENGINE OIL MEETING FORD SPECIFICATION WSS-M2C153-G OR
EQUIVALENT PRIOR TO INSTALLATION, TO HELP THE SEAL AND EASE THE INSTALLATION.
NOTE
WHEN TIGHTENING THE FUEL LINES, A TORQUE WRENCH ADAPTER MUST BE USED WITH THE TORQUE WRENCH. THE USE
OF A TORQUE WRENCH ADAPTER WILL ALTER THE EFFECTIVE TORQUE OF THE TORQUE WRENCH BEING USED. TO CORRECT
THE EFFECTIVE TORQUE, A TORQUE MULTIPLICATION CONVERSION MUST BE USED; REFER TO SECTION 310-00B.

Remove the dust cap and tether loop from new fill valve.
