Removal
1. WARNING: On vehicles equipped with an auxiliary battery, both the negative and positive battery cables must be disconnected.
WARNING: On vehicles equipped with a 7.31 engine, both the primary and secondary batteries must be disconnected.
Disconnect the battery.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Disconnect the connector.
4. NOTE: Do not discard the gasket unless damaged. This is a reusable gasket.
Remove the transmission fluid pan and the gasket.

Loosen, but do not remove, the bolts.

Remove the front and side bolts.

Lower the front of the fluid pan and allow the fluid to drain.

Remove the remaining bolts and the fluid pan.
5. CAUTION: When replacing the transmission fluid and filter and seal assembly, the torque converter, transmission cooler, cooler lines and cooler
bypass valve (CBV) must be thoroughly flushed to remove any contamination.
NOTE: After removal, discard the filter and seal assembly.
