5. Remove the filter and seal assembly by carefully pulling and rotating the filter as necessary.
CAUTION: When replacing the transmission fluid and filter and seal assembly, the torque converter, transmission cooler, cooler lines and Cooler
Bypass Valve (CBV) must be thoroughly flushed to remove any contamination.
NOTE: After removal, discard the filter and seal assembly.
6. If the seal remains in the pump bore, remove it carefully with a small screwdriver so as not to scratch or damage the aluminum bore.
CAUTION: Be careful not to scratch or damage the aluminum bore. The new seal may leak.
7. On all except vehicles equipped with a 7.3L engine, remove the torque converter drain plug cover.
8. On vehicles equipped with the 7.3L engine, remove the 5 (A) bolts and the (B) flywheel inspection cover.
