NOTE:

Return only the cut section of the fuel tank. Complete fuel tank assemblies will be refused and returned to the sending dealer.

F-500 FUEL NEUTRALIZER

At no cost, each dealer will receive one 4 ounce bottle of F-500 Fuel Neutralizer directly from Hazard Control Technologies, Inc. to be used if fuel
tank replacement is necessary. (Expect delivery of the F-500 the second week of April 2001. It will be addressed to "ATTN: Service Manager".)

Before cutting the cracked section from the fuel tank, follow the directions that come with the Fuel Neutralizer or instructions Faxed to you from the
Recall Hotline. If more F-500 is needed, call 1-800-325-5621.

NOTE:

Fuel Neutralizer may be used for other repairs involving fuel tank replacement.

EXCESS STOCK RETURN

Excess stock returned for credit must have been purchased from Ford Customer Service Division in accordance with Policy Procedure Bulletin 4000.

Attachment III - Technical Information

OVERVIEW

This procedure provides the instructions for installing two (2) insulator pads on the top of the fuel tank, one at each location where the tank contacts the
frame crossmembers. If a fuel tank is found to be cracked, contact the Recall Hotline at 1-800-325-5621 for directions.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

WARNING:

DO NOT SMOKE OR CARRY LIGHTED TOBACCO OR OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN WORKING ON OR NEAR ANY
FUEL-RELATED COMPONENT. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE MIXTURES ARE ALWAYS PRESENT AND MAY BE IGNITED, RESULTING IN
POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.

WARNING:

FUEL IN THE FUEL SYSTEM REMAINS UNDER HIGH PRESSURE, EVEN WHEN THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING. BEFORE
REPAIRING OR DISCONNECTING ANY OF THE FUEL LINES OR FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS, THE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE
MUST BE RELIEVED TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL SPRAYING OF FUEL, CAUSING PERSONAL INJURY OR FIRE HAZARD.

FUEL TANK REMOVAL

1.

Disconnect the battery ground cable.

2.

Remove the engine cover.

3.

Using EFI/CFI Fuel Pressure Gauge 310-012 (T80L-9974-B) or equivalent, relieve the fuel system pressure, then remove the gauge.
