Engine Block Heater: Service and Repair

Block Heater

Removal and Installation 

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Remove the RH catalytic converter. For additional information, refer to Catalytic Converter.
4. Remove the block heater cover.

5. CAUTION: Make sure that the block heater wiring is routed and secured away from rotating or hot components, or damage to the

wiring can occur.

Disconnect the block heater electrical connector.

6. Remove the block heater.

To install, tighten to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs). 

7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
8. Fill and bleed the cooling system.
