4/27/2007-4/30/2007.

ISSUE
Some 2008 Escape and Mariner vehicles equipped with a 3.0L engine, may exhibit a grinding or rattling noise with the engine running, more noticeable
at idle.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Check the vehicle build date:
a.
If the vehicle was built from 4/27/2007-4/30/2007, go to Step 2.
b.
If not, follow normal diagnostics using Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 100-04.
2.
Remove the starter, Refer to WSM, Section 303-06.
a.
Inspect the starter drive for loose washers and/or the snap ring not seated in the shafi groove. Replace as necessary.
3.
Install the starter, Refer to WSM, Section 303-06.
