Remove
1. Slacken the wheel nuts, raise the vehicle and remove the rear road wheel.
2. Loosen the handbrake cable, (if necessary) (refer to Operation Number 12 662 0).

3. Remove the dust cover.
3‐door, 4‐door, 5‐door built up to 12/1994 and Wagon built up to 07/1995

NOTE:

The hub retaining nuts are handed, left‐hand thread on left‐hand side and right‐hand thread on right‐hand side.

4. Remove the hub retaining nut.
Hub Assembly - Rear - Remove (15 373 0)

5. Remove the hub and drum assembly.
Vehicles with ABS
6. Remove the anti‐lock brake (ABS) sensor ring (refer to Operation Number 12 788 0).
All vehicles

7. Remove the grease seal.

8. Remove the bearings.

9. Using the internal extractor, remove the bearing cups.
10. Thoroughly clean the hub assembly.
Install

CAUTION:

The tapered self setting roller type rear bearings run in matched cups (cups and bearings must be from the same supplier).

CAUTION:

The bearings are self setting on assembly and therefore require no subsequent Service adjustment.

NOTE:

When refitting the new cups ensure that the cups fully abut their respective shoulders.

11. Fit the new bearing cups.

NOTE:

Grease the bearing before fitting.

12. Fit the new inner bearing.

13. Fit a new grease seal.
Vehicles with ABS
14. Install the ABS sensor ring (refer to Operation Number 12 788 0).
All vehicles

NOTE:

Grease the bearing before fitting.

15. Fit the new outer bearing.
Hub Assembly - Rear - Install (15 373 0)
16. Refit the hub and drum assembly.

CAUTION:

Once tightened, the hub retaining nut must not be disturbed. If the torque needs to be checked the nut must be loosened by two full turns and re‐tightened.

NOTE:

Rotate the drum in the opposite direction when tightening the hub nut to prevent damage to the bearing.

17. Install the hub retaining nut.
18. Install the dust cover.
19. Install the rear wheel.
20. Lower the vehicle.

21. Tighten the wheel nuts.
22. Adjust the handbrake (refer to Operation Number 12 662 0).
